          Artist Statement

 I created this artwork based on an introvert persona. Introvert are people who does express themselves much, they do more internal thinking. Sometime they tends to think too much and can’t get out of it. To represent these characteristics, I used maze and box as idea for my artwork. Box is to represent introvert doing internal thinking because a box is like a storage to keep stuff in it. They doesn’t really express what they feel and think, all they do is keep it inside their mind. There are 4 side of the box that have maze. Maze is complicated and we could get lost inside it. This is just like what’s happening inside an introvert mind, they think a lot and sometime make it too complicated for them to get out of it. My artwork consist on only black & white color. This is to show two side of introvert. The white part have a gap on it, which is their other side of wanting to go out and hang out with their friends. Another side which is black in color is to show their other side where they prefer to stay at home and not going out.

I choose this video for my assignment 3 because I think this social experiment video bring out the awareness of the dangers of social media. Bad thing could happened to these girl if this is not a social experiment video but a real scenario!

Artist Statement

This layout is an outline of a tree with bird flying away from it. The tree is the home for the bird and the bird fly away from the tree to seek for freedom. The green alphabet represent the leaf and also the bird. Green is a color of nature and it also represent freedom. The alphabet 'Y' represent the tree trunks so it's brown in color. Brown is the color of earth and it also represent home. The background is black because black is a color that represent mystery. The bird flew away from their home and get into the outside world, the path that they will face outside will be a complete mystery and they have to go through it no matter its good or bad. That's what I want to express through this artwork... FREEDOM.

Final Layout

After consultation with my lecturer, they asked me to continue my design with this layout to further improvise it.

This is the finalize layout. I changed the font into Trajan Pro and i arranged it from large font to smaller font in order to create a scene as if the alphabet was flying away. The reason I choose this font is that the font look very strong like a tree, and the alphabet 'Y' for this font really look like a tree trunks. This alphabet is the first thing that caught my attention and I decided to create this layout using this font.

This is inspired by the Attack on Titan survey corps logo that I had posted in the previous post. I arranged it like this to get a structure of wings. I used this typeface because it is look simple and easier to construct the wings.

The 2nd layout was inspired by this image. Birds flying away from the tree brings the meaning of freedom without being restricted, they fly to any place they want. I used this typeface because of the cursive look like the wings for the bird to fly away. It also had the meaning of freedom.

The 3rd layout was an idea suggested by my friend. Those alphabet in the middle represent the cage and the alphabet outside represent freedom outside the cage as they are placed uneven and scatter around. These alphabet F,R,E,D,O,M are larger in size compared to others in order to indicate the word FREEDOM. I used this typeface because it look very strong and solid which is suitable to construct the cage.

Artist Statement

                                                                                 

 Bird is the object that I chose to represent myself because it is the most suitable idea to show how I feel and the image of my life. Most birds are free, flying in the sky and go wherever they want to go. However, there are also bird who are lock up in a cage and don't have freedom. Its just like the situation i faced, I don't have that much freedom. I used the concept of birdcage to show the lack of freedom. I made this birdcage by using a book and fold it page by page until it form a birdcage shape, then I attached a black card board at the back to make it look like a frame. I drew chains at the both side of the frame to show the feeling of without freedom and getting bind. The partially shown feather is to represent a bird that are desperately wanting to come out from the cage and get freedom.

Final Artwork

So i did this artwork by using a book. I fold it page by page and the end product become a bird cage like art work. I added a black card board at the back of the bird cage to make it looks like a frame. I drew some chain at the both side of the bird cage to show how restricted it feels being inside the cage, like being bind and don't have freedom. The purple feather represent the bird. Purple color shows sadness of the bird because its locked inside the cage and doesn't have freedom. I let most of the feather visible to show that it is trying to get out of the cage, to gain FREEDOM.

Artwork prototype

This is the first artwork that i did to represent bird. So there are 2 background, one is a background of blue sky and another is the background of a cage. These 2 background is to represent freedom and without freedom.

I fold 2 bird origami with 2 different color. The dark blue bird is for the cage background and the pink bird is for the blue sky background. The reason why i chose dark blue to fold this bird because dark blue represent sad and unhappy, so it describe the feeling of the bird that are in the cage. On the other hand,pink color bird is for the blue sky background. Pink color can represent happy so I chose this color to point out the happiness by having freedom.

Finally I decided to do my artwork based on this concept. I think it is a very way creative to build a bird cage out of a book.

The final object that I choose to represent myself is a bird. Birds are animals that represent freedom as they can fly anywhere without boundaries. But there are also bird that are trapped inside a cage and had no freedom. I think its kinda describe what I am going through because my parents are strict and there are a lot of things that i couldn't do. Unlike others they don't have that much restriction from their parents, they have more freedom in terms of going out or do anything that they wanted to do. But luckily as I grow older, my parents starting to loosen up and not that strict anymore. I got my freedom and able to make decision for myself.

The third sketch i chose to draw coffee. I am a person who love coffee and its kinda represent my life.  Coffee can be bitter or sweet depends on how much sugar you add into it. Just like our daily life, sugar is like the effort you put. The more effort you put in, the greater the success you get. Your life won't be bitter.

The second sketch is leaf. I choose leaf because there are a time where i have no direction at all in my life. There are no goal or milestone in my life to achieve, just like a leaf flew everywhere according to the wind.

Water

One of the object that I think its suit to describe me because water change shape according to the container it was poured into. I am a easygoing person, I can blend in with different kind of people without having any problem. Just like how water change shape when poured into different shape of container without any problem.
